Performance ManagementCourse No: M114Introduction
Effective management of its people is critical to the success of an organisation. When people are well managed they feel committed, on board, motivated and productive. At work we all need to know how we are doing and we would rather know of our mistakes sooner rather than later when perhaps too much damage is done.
People thrive on even a little bit of praise and acknowledgement (regardless of their status in the company) even for routine work and yet the reality is that it is rarely forthcoming. For example, thanking someone for making a cracking cup of tea or praise on meeting a deadline. For some managers criticising, often in ways which will do little for the subordinates commitment, motivation and productivity is easier than praising. This can be because they don't know how to praise or the belief that if they praise, somehow they will lose control and be seen as weak. At worst, the employee will leave and the company will go through the enormous expense of recruitment repeatedly. This course will provide the tools and techniques for managers to constructively and effectively communicate with employees regarding performance. ObjectiveTo introduce managers to the principles and practice of managing the performance of their people.
