Diversity & Equality

Course No: M104

Introduction

All employers need to be aware of the changes to Employment Law, Race Relations Act, Sex Discrimination Act & Disability Discrimination Act. The outcome of these Amended Acts will mean that there is much more emphasis upon the role of the employer to ensure that discrimination does NOT take place.

And, most important of all a diversity and equality policy that is a dynamic working document: Prevents the possibility of discrimination issues and attendance at Employment Tribunals and Race/Sex Relations investigations.

Today we live and work in increasingly diverse cultures and societies. It is important to raise awareness of managers of the business need and challenges of increasing diversity in the organisation.

The number 1 maxim has to be that 'racism is bad for business!!

The workshop will enable managers to:

  • Explain the legislative background to equal opportunities and discrimination
  • State the current issues with regard to new equality related legislation
  • Consider the diversity profile of their own organisation and that of its stakeholders
