Unexpected Change
How well is your organisation geared up?
If you are in business you will be more than aware of the changeable and unpredictable nature of our environment. Looking back just a few years – or possibly months you may well have seen significant changes in your own areas of business – some expected – some not. In the light of the increasing pace of change many commentators are stressing the importance of continuous innovation for the survival of individual businesses. Quotes like; "The only thing that gives an organisation its competitive edge is how fast it can produce something new" (Prusak ‘96) have been repeated so often that this understanding is just part of the way we see the business world these days. At Picasso HR it is a very real concept for us. We see our success or failure to be based on the extent to which we can provide our customers with better services than our competitors – which means thinking creatively – implementing new and useful services. We are also aware that although much is talked about creativity and innovation – there is a need to find some practical ways of helping a business to understand where they are on the innovative scale – and how they can get better – if they want to. It is vital to first analyse where the organisation is on the creativity scale so that an action plan can be developed. Like most initiatives in an organisation, it must be championed and supported by the people at the top. So it is vital for leaders and managers to have a deep understanding of their leadership and management style and understand how they can develop their style to be more creative as leaders. At HR Partners we run seminars to help organisations become more creative. We start by assessing the organisation's current creative climate and then help leaders and their people enhance their creativity Assessing organisational climateThis programme begins with a survey and analysis of the current climate in your organisation. It will identify areas of strength and weaknesses, and work with the management team to plan and implement the steps that will increase the creative and innovative potential of the organisation Developing creative leadershipThis is a programme that helps the leaders and managers in an organisation to gain a deep understanding of their own style, and how they can develop their style to be creative as a leader, and to encourage and nurture the creativity in those they lead. Creativity workshopsThe creativity workshop explores the concepts of creativity and innovation, and how people can increase their own creativity. Participants attending will gain an understanding of their own creative style and that of others, and how members of a team can complement each other in making improvements and finding new ways of working. The workshop also introduces participants to tools and techniques that can be used by teams in creative problem solving. It is most effective when the participants are members of the same organisation and can import the problem solving techniques into the work situation. The creative organisations network Picasso HR believes that creative and innovative organisations are those of the future. They have the flexibility to cope with the complexity and changeability of their business environments, and can continuously adapt to meet new needs and find new markets. Becoming more creative is an essential part of the strategy for gaining competitive advantage. To meet this need Picasso HR is creating a network of organisations that are interested in pushing forward the frontiers in creativity. Members of the network will be able to review new thinking on creativity and innovation, and share and learn from experiences of others in the network.
